2. Acceptance of Terms

By using our website, submitting an enquiry, or bringing a timepiece to our workshop, you indicate your agreement to these terms. If you do not agree, we ask that you refrain from using our services and contact us to discuss any concerns before proceeding.

Our services are intended for individuals who are at least 18 years of age and have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement under Thai law. If you are acting on behalf of a third party, you represent that you have the authority to bind them to these terms.

We accept enquiries from clients worldwide, though work is carried out at our workshop in Chiang Mai. Shipping and transit arrangements for international clients are discussed separately and governed by the terms set out at the time of service.

3. Service Description

Lanna Atelier offers specialist watch repair and restoration services from our workshop in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Our principal services include antique pocket watch refurbishment, dial restoration and refinishing, and movement replacement and conversion. Full descriptions are available on our Solutions page.

All services are performed by trained artisans on our premises. We do not subcontract mechanical work without your knowledge; where a specialist external studio is used — such as for dial printing — this is disclosed to you in advance.

Service availability may be affected by the volume of work in the workshop, parts availability, or circumstances beyond our reasonable control. We will communicate any delays as early as possible and work with you to find a suitable path forward.

4. User Responsibilities

When engaging our services, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate information about the timepiece, including any known damage, prior repairs, or relevant history.
  • Disclose any sentimental, monetary, or insurance value you place on the item, so we may handle and advise accordingly.
  • Respond to communications in a reasonable timeframe, particularly where decisions about the scope of work are required.
  • Collect or arrange collection of your timepiece within 30 days of notification that work is complete.
  • Use our website lawfully and refrain from attempting to interfere with its operation.

Prohibited uses of our website include: attempting to access systems without authorisation; submitting false or misleading information; and reproducing our content without permission.

5. Intellectual Property

All content on this website — including text, photographs, illustrations, and layout — is the property of Lanna Atelier or its content suppliers, and is protected by applicable intellectual property law. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive licence to access and view this content for personal, non-commercial purposes.

You may not reproduce, republish, distribute, or commercially exploit any content from this website without our written consent. This does not restrict you from sharing links or brief quotations for editorial or informational purposes, provided the source is attributed.

6. Payment Terms

All prices are quoted and invoiced in Thai Baht (฿). The prices listed on our website are indicative starting points; a final quotation is provided after assessment of the specific timepiece.

Payment is due upon collection or, for shipped returns, prior to dispatch. We accept payment by bank transfer and cash at the workshop. Any additional costs arising from unforeseen complexity during service will be discussed with you before proceeding; no additional charges are applied without your agreement.

Regarding refunds: Where work has not yet commenced, we are happy to return your timepiece without charge. Once service work is underway, refunds are assessed on a case-by-case basis depending on the stage and nature of work completed. We handle each situation with care and aim to find a fair resolution.

7. Service-Specific Terms

The following terms apply to the specific services we offer:

Antique Pocket Watch Refurbishment

Work on antique pieces is undertaken with care to preserve original components wherever possible. We discuss the planned approach before commencing and note any deviations discovered during disassembly. Replacement parts are selected to match the original where practical alternatives exist.

Dial Restoration and Refinishing

The choice between conservation and refinishing is always discussed openly. If we judge that the kinder course is to leave the dial untouched, we will say so and give you the full picture. Refinishing involves collaboration with an external specialist studio; this is disclosed in advance and does not alter your point of contact or the terms of your agreement with us.

Movement Replacement and Conversion

Where a movement is replaced, this is noted in writing on your service record and receipt. We do not represent a watch as retaining its original movement once a replacement has been fitted. We discuss the options with you in full before proceeding.

8. Disclaimers

Our services are provided with care and attention, and our assessments are offered in good faith based on our experience. However, we cannot predict outcomes with absolute certainty, particularly with very old or unusually complex timepieces.

Website content is provided for informational purposes. While we take care to keep it accurate, we do not warrant that all information is current or complete, and we accept no responsibility for decisions made based solely on website content without direct consultation.

Nothing on this website constitutes financial, insurance, or valuation advice. If you require a formal valuation or insurance appraisal, we recommend consulting a qualified independent specialist.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by Thai law, Lanna Atelier's liability for any claim arising from our services is limited to the fee paid for the specific service in question. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or speculative losses, including loss of sentimental value (which we recognise is real but is not quantifiable in legal terms).

We take reasonable precautions to protect timepieces in our care, and we hold workshop premises insurance. If a timepiece is lost or damaged whilst in our care due to our negligence, we will address the matter honestly and promptly.

We are not liable for delays or failures attributable to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to natural events, postal disruptions, or the unavailability of specific parts.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Lanna Atelier harmless from claims, losses, or costs — including reasonable legal fees — arising from your misuse of our website, your breach of these terms, or your provision of inaccurate information about a timepiece that leads to loss or damage.

11. Termination

You may withdraw a service request at any point before work has commenced, and we will return your timepiece without charge. If work is in progress, we will discuss the position with you and invoice only for work already completed.

We may decline to undertake or continue work if we form the view that proceeding would not be in the best interests of the timepiece or the client. In such cases, we will return the item and explain our reasoning. Provisions relating to payment for work already completed, and the general terms of this agreement, survive any termination of the service relationship.

12. Dispute Resolution

These terms are governed by the laws of Thailand. In the event of any dispute, we ask that you first contact us directly — most concerns can be resolved through an open conversation, and we prefer that approach.

If direct resolution is not possible, disputes may be referred to mediation in Chiang Mai before any formal legal proceedings are commenced. The courts of Chiang Mai Province have jurisdiction over any disputes that proceed to formal resolution.

Nothing in this clause prevents either party from seeking urgent interim relief from a court where that is genuinely necessary.

13. General Provisions

Entire Agreement. These terms, together with any written quotation or service record, constitute the entire agreement between us concerning the relevant service.

Severability. If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remainder continues in full effect.

Waiver. Our failure to enforce any term on a particular occasion does not constitute a waiver of that term generally.

Assignment. You may not assign your rights under these terms without our written consent. We may assign our obligations where there is a change of business ownership, provided the new owner honours commitments made to existing clients.

Notices. Written communications should be sent to [email protected] or to our workshop address below.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms from time to time. When we do, the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page will be changed. For significant revisions, we will note the nature of the change at the top of the document for a period of 30 days.

Continued use of our website or services after a revision takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. If you have a timepiece already in our care when terms change, the terms in effect at the time of intake continue to govern that service.
